Meaning & Significance
Compass
Gives a significant meaning to the role of unit that provides assistance and guidance to the sailors by producing nautical charts and hydrographic publications at national level to ensure the safety of navigation.
Anchor and rope
They represent a message of unity and cooperation in the Royal Malaysian Navy and express the spirit of the Navy People who always resilient and viscous when face a challenges.
Green and red dots in the circle
Dots are arranged in a circle symbolize the survey activities which carried out in a organized, systematic, accurate and high quality. These dots reflect two separate main activities of National Hydrographic Centre such as hydrographic and oceanographic activities. Both of these activities need to have mutual balance and standardization in terms of the security
and country development.

Kapal Diraja Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah
Mahkota dengan Tulisan ALLAH dan MUHAMMAD. Melambangkan Islam sebagai agama rasmi Malaysia dan Kedaulatan Yang Dipertuan Agong dalam Sistem Raja Perlembagaan di mana Kerajaan mengamalkan sistem demokrasi.
Tali Berkembar. Ianya terdapat di kedua-dua belah tali kiri dan kanan mewakili semangat kerjasama yang kuat terbentuk dalam unit bagi menghasilkan semangat kesepaduan yang utuh.
Bunga Raya. Merupakan Bunga Kebangsaan Malaysia.
Jata Kebesaran Kesultanan Negeri Selangor. Melambangkan kuasa, kekuatan dan kedaulatan pemerintahan Kesultanan Melayu Beraja, khususnya Kesultanan Negeri Selangor Darul Ehsan.
Peta Selangor. Membawa maksud jajahan kuasa dan pemerintahan Almarhum DYMM Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah yang merupakan Yang di-Pertuan dan Raja Pemerintah Negeri Selangor Darul Ehsan Ke-8.

INSIGNIA
The insignia badges is awarded to Hydrographic officers by the Royal Malaysian Navy (RMN) in recognition of their knowledge and competency in hydrography and recommended by Chief of Hydrographer. They are required to undergo various tests to ensure that they merit the award. The officers must attend Pre-Basic Hydrography and Hydrographic Category B courses for six months either nationally or abroad. Upon completion of the courses, they are placed on board a RMN hydrographic ship over a 2-year period to be evaluated on their competency and work as well as undergo a personal assessment by the Commanding Officer of the ship. The Insignia badge is a symbol of pride for every Hydrographic Surveyor of the Royal Malaysian Navy.

Sextant
Representing the instrument used in hydrographic positioning surveys.
Waves
Representing the core specialised hydrography elements of hydrographic exploration, oceanography, meteorology, and charting. The two layers of waves reflect the challenges in executing hydrographic survey duties.
