PULAU INDAH, 4 MAC 2026- OFFICIAL VISIT BY REAR ADMIRAL LUIGI SINAPI, CANDIDATE FOR SECREATARY-GENERAL AND DIRECTOR OF THE INTERNATIONAL HYDROGRAPHIC ORGANISATION. Rear Admiral Luigi Sinapi of the Italian Navy, candidate for Secretary-General and Director of the International Hydrographic Organisation (IHO), conducted an official visit to the National Hydrographic Centre on 3 March 2026.The visit was part of his engagement programme with selected IHO Member States in conjunction with the upcoming 4th IHO Assembly (IHO A-4). A key agenda item for the Assembly is the election of the Secretary-General and the IHO Director, scheduled for 23 April 2026.During the visit, Rear Admiral Sinapi presented his vision and strategic priorities, including strengthening international cooperation, advancing hydrographic capacity development and reinforcing the IHO’s global relevance in support of safe navigation and sustainable ocean governance. Malaysia reaffirms its support for all candidates and expects the future IHO leadership to continue upholding the interests of all Member States while advancing the organisation’s mission for the global maritime community.
