KUALA LUMPUR, 1 MAC 23 - KL GeoHydro 2023, Prospects and Technological Development in Hydrography. The KL GeoHydro 2023 International Conference and Exhibition, jointly organised by International Federation of Surveyors (FIG), Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), The Association of Authorised Land Surveyors Malaysia (PEJUTA), National Hydrographic Centre (PHN), Department of Survey and Mapping Malaysia (JUPEM) and Land Surveyors Board (LJT), was successfully held from 28th February to 1st March 23 at Hotel Shangri-La, Kuala Lumpur. The conference was officiated by the Director General of National Hydrographic Centre, Rear Admiral Dato’ Hanafiah bin Hassan. We are extremely grateful for the overwhelming visits and interest shown throughout the event to National Hydrographic Centres' exhibition booth and the interactions with the participants. It was an honour and pleasure to have had these inspiring conversations throughout the event.

YOGYAKARTA, 17 FEB 23 - The 14th Malacca and Singapore Straits Electronic Navigational Chart Steering Committee (MSS-ENC SC) Meeting, hosted by Indonesia, was successfully concluded on the evening of 17 February 2023 in Yogyakarta. This MSS-ENC SC meeting was the last task of Malaysian officials led by Rear Admiral Dato' Hanafiah bin Hassan after participating in the 12th East Asia Hydrographic Commission (EAHC) Training, Research and Development Centre Board of Director (TRDC-BOD) Meeting and the 9th EAHC SC Meeting back-to-back since 15 February. The meeting was attended by the Japan Hydrographic Association (JHA) and the hydrographic offices of the three coastal states in the Strait of Malacca and Singapore (Indonesia, Malaysia and Singapore). At the end of the meeting, it was formally agreed that Malaysia will be the coordinator of MSS-ENC in the next term. The official handover by Indonesia will take place in July 2023. Well done, Malaysia!

   

YOGYAKARTA, 17 FEB 23 - 9th East Asian Hydrographic Commission Steering Committee (EAHC SC) Meeting. Rear Admiral Dato' Hanafiah bin Hassan, Director General of the National Hydrographic Centre of Malaysia, leads the delegation from Malaysia attending the 9th East Asian Hydrographic Commission Steering Committee (EAHC SC) Meeting in Yogyakarta, Indonesia on 16-17 February 2023. The EAHC is tasked with coordinating the activities of national hydrographic offices in the region without influencing the internal affairs of the respective hydrographic offices or diminishing their national responsibilities, facilitating mutual exchange of information on surveys, research, new developments and technical details related to hydrography, and promoting mutual assistance in the development of techniques for hydrographic work. During the meeting, China was elected as the Vice-Chair of the EAHC. Malaysia warmly welcomes China in its new role as Vice Chairperson and wishes the EAHC every success under the leadership of Indonesia and China. Best regards to you!
